DCA and Telstra invite you to celebrate International Women's Day

After such a successful first event in Sydney in late 2007, Diversity Council Australia is delighted to invite you to our next Corporate Women’s Network event, this time hosted by Telstra in Brisbane, to celebrate International Women’s Day.

International Women's Day is a day to celebrate the gains women have made over the years and to bring attention to the issues that women still face. While most would acknowledge much progress has been made in raising the profile and opportunities for women in the workplace, many women are still finding it hard to achieve career success on their own terms.

Over a drink and some canapés on 11 March, we will look at how to build a successful career. You will hear from the following women leaders:
  • Sharron Nugent, Executive Director Enterprise Transformation, Telstra Enterprise and Government. Sharron is responsible for the identification of customer experience and business architecture improvements that will enable the business to fully leverage its significant capabilities in key areas. Prior to this role Sharron was Executive Director of Customer Care in Telstra Enterprise and Government Division where she led a transformation program that delivered significant productivity, customer and employee satisfaction improvements. In 2006, Sharron's contribution was recognised when she was awarded Telstra's Executive Leadership Award.
  • Nareen Young, DCA’s Chief Executive Officer and event host. Nareen was appointed CEO of DCA in June 2007 in acknowledgment of her outstanding record as one of Australia’s most senior employment diversity practitioners. Immediately prior to her appointment as Senior Consultant for DCA in 2005, Nareen was Director of the NSW Working Women’s Centre for seven years and specialises in all areas of women’s employment market participation. She has been nominated for a Human Rights Award and Medal for her contribution in providing access to information to women about employment issues.
  • Maureen Frank, DCA’s Principal Consultant - Women’s Programs will outline DCA’s 2008 initiatives for women in Australia’s leading businesses. Maureen is recognised as one of Australia’s top business women. She has received public acknowledgement for her business skills in winning a Telstra Business Woman of Year Award in 2004, being named a BRW ‘Rising Star’ in 2005 and being noted as a finalist in 2005 in the Australian Institute of Management Excellence Awards.
