2007 Awards

2007 winners announced

The Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, the Hon Joe Hockey MP, announced the winners of the 2007 ACCI/BCA National Work and Family Awards on 18 July 2007 at a Gala Dinner at Doltone House in Sydney.

The Awards recognise organisations that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to helping their employees achieve a better balance between work and family.

The judging panel was impressed by the high quality of applicants across a broad range of industries including finance, manufacturing, health, education and construction.

"The winners and finalists in these awards have shown that flexible working arrangements can be successful in any operating environment," Minister Hockey said.

"The key message emerging from the winning organisations at these awards is that working with employees to balance work and family is good for employees and good for business. Flexible arrangements have assisted organisations to retain valuable employees, reduce turnover costs, increase productivity and improve staff morale and customer satisfaction.

"And that’s not just a good result for individual businesses and employees; it’s fantastic for the welfare of the whole nation. With the flexible framework provided by the government, businesses can offer conditions that make their workplace an attractive proposition for jobseekers.

"I would like to congratulate all of the finalists for your innovative approach to flexible working arrangements and commitment to work and family initiatives. You are an example of what Australian workplaces can be when they strive to reach their potential, and there is no doubt the effort that you have put in has paid off."
