Diversity Council Australia invites members to participate in a consultation on legal barriers to mature age participation in the workforce.

The Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) has recently released an Issues Paper, Grey Areas: Age Barriers to Work in Commonwealth Laws. The ALRC is inviting individuals and organisations to make submissions in response to the questions contained in the Issues Paper. The input will help inform the development of draft recommendations for reform to be released later in the year.

Consistent with DCA's mission to represent its members, DCA is preparing a submission to the Inquiry and wants to reflect the experiences and opinions of members. To this end, we are giving members the opportunity to have their say through a special members' consultation.

DCA is particularly interested in hearing from members about:

  • Any specific barriers your organisation has identified in attracting and retaining older workers;
  • Policies and programs your organisation has put in place to attract, retain and facilitate greater participation by older workers (for example through job re-design, workplace flexibility programs etc);
  • Your organisation’s experience with transition to retirement arrangements; and
  • Your views about how workers’ compensation laws and superannuation scheme rules impact on older workers in your organisation.
