Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender - Business case

Being positive towards LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender) employees is the litmus test for an inclusive culture and takes an Australian diversity strategy to the next level by ensuring that workplaces are inclusive of all employees, regardless of race/ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability or religion.

While LGBT is an assumed agenda item on most progressive diversity strategies in the US and UK, it is still relatively new to Australia and DCA has played a crucial role in promoting accessible LGBT diversity practice for Australian employers by partnering to establish ’Pride in Diversity’.

Many progressive organisations are now recognising they need to draw on talent from all sections of the population and create a workforce culture that embraces diversity and equality. These organisations are motivated by the following business drivers:

  • Reputation
  • Capture profitable niche markets – attracting the “pink dollar”
  • Workplace productivity, retention and engagement
  • Risk mitigation.
