In 2008, DCA saw a need for an organisation that could work with employers to encourage more LGBT-friendly workplaces in Australia, similar to the work being done by Stonewall in the UK.
In the spirit of self-determination, we felt it was important for the LGBT community to own such a program so supported ACON, with its strong links to the community, in establishing Pride in Diversity.
Pride in Diversity, in partnership with ACON, DCA and Stonewall UK was launched in Sydney in February 2010. This program is the first Australian non-for-profit employer support program to focus exclusively on supporting Australian Employers with every aspect of LGBT inclusion.
The Pride in Diversity Program will also launch Australia’s first Workplace Equality Index in 2010, based on the model adapted by Stonewall UK.
Founding partners for the Pride in Diversity program are: KPMG, IBM, ING Australia, Lead lease, Goldman Sachs JBWere, Department of Defence and Australian Federal Police and Telstra.
