Father’s Day 2022 – Resources for Members

Topics Gender

Father’s Day in Australia falls on Sunday, 4 September this year.

This calendar date is an opportunity to consider the important role that men, and fathers, play in gender equality.

To mark the date this year, we have collated some resources to support DCA members in creating gender equal workplaces.

[email protected] Index: Mapping the State of Flex in the Australian Workforce

A special edition report of DCA’s [email protected] Index 2021-2022 titled Mapping the State of Flex in the Australian Workforce highlights a positive link between flexible work and workplace inclusion, and it also shows that the stigma around care, gender and flexible work continue.

Tellingly, it reveals that almost one in two men who have caring responsibilities, and who access flexible work (flex), are experiencing exclusion at work. Men using flex also report significantly more discrimination and/or harassment at work compared to male workers not using flex options, as well as compared to female workers using flex and those not.

Let’s Share the Care report

Diversity Council Australia’s Let’s Share the Care at Home and Work report is a call to action to end the gender pay gap by enabling women and men in Australian families to ‘share the care’ more equitably.

It outlines what is needed to close the unpaid care gap and calls for a redistribution of this work through policies that encourage men to take up care work more often.
