Gender Equality Network - Male champions of change update
At this Gender Equality Network we heard from Male Champions of Change (MCC) representatives on its journey to date.
Since its start in 2010, MCC has been working with influential leaders to redefine men’s role in taking action on gender inequality. The MCC coalition now encompasses ten groups, amounting to around 170+ leaders across Australia.
Guest speakers included:
- Troy Roderick, MCC’s Strategic Advisor who will discuss the MCC’s journey to date and future plans for continuing to effect change in support of gender equality,
- Ming Long, Convenor 2017 National Group Male Champions of Change and DCA Deputy Chair, and
- Tim Reed, CEO MYOB and member of the MCC STEM group, discussed what his organisation has done to refine men’s role in taking action on gender inequality and the impact involvement in the MCC has had on them.
DCA’s CEO Lisa Annese, our event emcee, reflected on the findings of DCA’s Men Make a Difference: Engaging Men on Gender Equality report released last year, and lead further discussion between audience members and our panel to explore the challenges and learnings from the MCC initiatives.
