PERTH presentation- Out At Work: From Prejudice to Pride
The findings of latest research will be presented live in Perth.
In partnership with RMIT University, the Star Observer, Deloitte and QBE, DCA has conducted the Out at Work: From Prejudice to Price study that seeks to better understand why LGBTIQ+ workers share or conceal their sexual orientation, gender identity or intersex variation at work, and how employers can create safe and inclusive workplace environments where LGBTIQ+ people can be themselves at work.
Dr Raymond Trau, Lead Research Investigator at RMIT and co-author of the project (along with DCA’s Research Director, Dr Jane O’Leary) will present the evidence about what it means to be out at work.
Following Raymond’s presentation, DCA’s CEO, Lisa Annese will invite two additional guest speakers to join Raymond for a panel discussion to further explore with the panel what practical actions organisations can take to create inclusive cultures that enable real choices about being out at work.
Panel will include:
- Dr. Raymond Trau, Lead Research Investigator, RMIT
- Toni Strutt, State Manager, Workers Compensation QBE
- Mark Hodgson, Manager of Alcoa of Australia's Pinjarra Alumina Refinery
