Diversity Leadership Program – A fresh perspective on ageing and work
At DCA’s Diversity Leadership Program event we examined the latest thinking and research about ageing and work that suggested new approaches are needed for today’s multigenerational workforces.
We heard from Professor Philip Taylor, Associate Dean Research, Professor of Management, Federation Business School - Federation University Australia who looked at:
- The relationship between age and the labour market
- Individual orientations to work and retirement
- Employer attitudes and practices regarding young, mid and older workers, and
- Public policy concerning the prolongation of workers lives.
Catriona Byrne, Creative Director, Marketing, Communication, Product at RiseSmart spoke about how to manage the challenges of age-diverse teams and getting the best our of multigenerational workforces.
Following this, we heard from Samantha Davies, DNA-C Enablement Engineer at Cisco, about her experience as a young graduate and how Cisco engages and supports younger workers and Kristy Macfarlane, Head of Diversity & Inclusion at NAB talked about how NAB engages, retains and supports their employees through graduate, mid and late career stages.
