Diversity in the Legal Profession Network - Growing & Measuring Cultural Diversity in the Legal Sector

05 Dec 2018

This Diversity in the Legal Profession Network event looked at cultural diversity and the legal profession.

Law firms in Australia are increasingly focusing on the need for greater cultural diversity, particularly at the partner and senior leadership level. Last year, eleven large firms signed a cultural diversity commitment to gather data and share ideas on how to increase diversity in leadership roles, and this year many are implementing cultural diversity surveys to establish a baseline to measure future progress.

At this Diversity in the Legal Profession Network, our guest speakers shared their rationale for tracking cultural diversity data at partner and senior leadership levels and what other strategies they have underway or planned to better leverage culturally diverse talent.

Speakers included:

  • Richard Gough, Partner, Baker McKenzie
  • Tuanh Nguyen, Director (Legal), PwC Australia, and Immediate Past President of the Asian Australian Lawyers Association
  • Andrew Pike, Regional Managing Partner Australia, Herbert Smith Freehills
  • Mariam Veiszadeh, Lawyer and Diversity & Inclusion Consultant and soon to be DCA Members and Advisory Director (from Jan 2019)

The rest of this content is restricted to DCA members.
