Cracking the Cultural Ceiling
In this Asian Century, there is ever more need for organisations to develop and promote leaders from a broad range of cultural backgrounds and who have cultural capabilities. Employees from Asian backgrounds represent a highly skilled and motivated group in Australian workplaces and yet many employers are not fully valuing their talents. DCA’s Cracking the Cultural Ceiling research, to be launched by Race Discrimination Commissioner, Dr Tim Soutphommasane, will examine what organisations need to do to address 'the bamboo ceiling’ and make the most of Asian talent.
For Australian organisations operating in the Asian Century, focusing on Asian talent and Asia capability is now a strategic business and talent management issue. And while Asian talent is well represented at entry and mid-level jobs, it is significantly under-represented in senior leadership positions. DCA’s new research, Cracking the Cultural Ceiling: Future Proofing Your Business in the Asian Century, has heard directly from Asian-identifying leaders and emerging leaders, about how Australian business can better attract, retain and engage Asian talent.
Produced in partnership with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Commonwealth Bank Australia, IBM Australia, King & Wood Mallesons, Performance Education, and The Next Step, the research will be launched by Dr Tim Soutphommasane, Race Discrimination Commissioner. Dr Jane O’Leary, DCA’s Research Director will outline the research findings and Dr Soutphommasane will join a panel of business leaders to discuss the implications for business and the wider community including:
