DCA's Inaugural Diversity in Technology Network meeting: priming the pipeline
We are excited to introduce our newest industry sector network: DCA's Diversity in Technology Network. Members will have the opportunity to share insights, challenges and opportunities for improving diversity in the technology sector.
As one of the fastest growing sectors in Australia, employers in technology are more concerned about diversity and inclusion than ever before. Despite a range of efforts, many organisations continue to struggle to make headway to improve workplace diversity and inclusion, particularly to increase the recruitment and retention of women.
Now, many technology organisations have arrived at a critical nexus: a growing workforce that lacks diversity.
DCA's Diversity in Technology Sector
DCA members are invited to attend this thought leadership event that is DCA's inaugural meeting of our Diversity in Technology Network. This event will investigate the diversity and inclusion issues most pertinent to the Australian technology sector today.
We invite DCA members who are employees of a technology firm, or employees of a corporate organisation who are working in the technology field, to join us in this network.
A keynote presentation on the state of play of Australia's technology industries and their efforts to tackle diversity and inclusion will be given by Suzanne Campbell, CEO of the Australian Information Industry Association.
Lisa Annese, CEO of Diversity Council Australia, will then explore the chronic underrepresentation of women in this sector, and how we can prime the pipeline to enable more women to both enter and remain in technology industries.
This will be followed by a panel discussion on how technology organisations can improve their gender focused initatives. Panelists will include:
- Bronwyn Holland, Women in Engineering and IT (WiE&IT) Program Director, UTS
- Michelle Ridsdale, People Director, Readify
- Sonia Basser, Managing Director, Financial Services Sector, IBM
- Suzanne Campbell, CEO, Australian Information Industry Association
- Les Vance, Chief Risk Officer, BT Financial Group
