Commonwealth Bank’s comprehensive strategy on domestic and family violence

In 2015, Commonwealth Bank CEO Ian Narev led the organisation to develop a comprehensive strategy on domestic and family violence.   In recognition of the need for a whole-of community response, Commonwealth Bank engaged community organisations; agencies and advocates in the family violence sector, and frontline support bodies that focus on contributing issues like financial independence.

The initial focus of Commonwealth Bank’s strategy was a review of its workplace response, and where necessary, enhancements to existing policies and support mechanisms. As one of the country’s largest employer with 42,000 employees, Commonwealth Bank recognised that like other large organisations, it has perpetrators, survivors and bystanders among its people.
