Businesses and employers can take a range of actions to support employees experiencing domestic or family violence: 

  • Adopting a formal policy addressing violence against women and domestic violence
  • Providing access to paid leave
  • Developing a safety plan for employees experiencing domestic violence
  • Mainstreaming flexible work
  • Supporting and training managers and supervisors to respond approriately
  • Creating workplace culture of respect and engaging men as active bystanders
  • Ensuring that EAP programs have experience and knowledge of domestic violence issues
