Why?
Always start by asking yourself:
Is this really necessary’?
If it is, recognise that many LGBTIQ+ people have experienced discrimination and may not feel comfortable disclosing. Ensure you explain what the information is for, how it will be used, and how the individual’s privacy will be respected.
