Leading Practice Principles

Leading practice employer parental leave schemes:

  • are flexible
  • promote shared care (i.e. leave is available to all new parents, irrespective of their gender identity and without reference to ‘primary’ or ‘secondary’ carer status)
  • include superannuation payments.

Members can log in to learn more about these leading practice principles, as well as miscarriage leave, additional paid leave for premature birth, fertility and reproductive leave, stillbirth or infant death, returning to work after parental leave, and other ways to support working parents.
