First Nations Insights: Co-design and power-sharing in practice
June 23 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm AEST
FreeNgarga Wangaddja means ‘mob talking’ in the language of the Nurungga people. It was the name chosen for the employee reference group formed by First Nations employees to represent the voices of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander staff at ANZ.
The group advises ANZ’s Reconciliation Action Plan governance committees and consults on any matters pertaining to the First Nations employee experience. It helps inform and influence policy – including cultural leave and the Head of First Nations Strategy role – and provides a platform for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff to connect, with a core focus on cultural wellbeing, safety, and influencing the bank’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
At this event we will discuss learnings from ANZ’s ERG Ngarga Wangaddja and the benefits of co-design and power-sharing in practice, including:
-
systems influence and decision-making
-
moving First Nations representation from advisory roles to decision authority in governance and on boards
-
examples of co-design that works and lessons from programs where power-sharing changed outcomes
-
what organisations should be tracking beyond participation numbers to measuring real impact.
Who should attend: Chief People Officers and HR Directors, D&I and HR managers and practitioners, people leaders, workplace health and safety professionals, and any colleagues/team members in your organisation wanting to build their D&I knowledge.
