What are flexible public holiday policies?
‘Flexible’ or ‘floating’ public holiday policies give employees greater flexibility by allowing them to substitute certain public holidays for an alternate day of paid leave.
This may be done to support staff who observe cultural and/or religious traditions and holidays that are different from those marked by public holidays in Australia. It may also be done to promote greater flexibility more broadly or to allow employees to take leave on days of personal significance to them.
