As Australia embarks on a process towards constitutional recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, now more than ever it’s important for organisations to contribute to reconciliation and make positive connections with Indigenous Communities.

At this next Indigenous Network, we will look at how businesses can commit to a meaningful and respectful working engagement with Indigenous communities while building respect for their heritage, cultures and knowledge.  We will look at:

  • How to effectively approach Community members
  • How to engage with these Communities respectfully to work with your business
  • What ‘Community conscious’ engagement is
  • How to design and implement an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander advisory panel and what its role can be
  • How positive connection can benefit both the organisation and the Community.

Our emcee, Kate Russell, Chair of DCA’s Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander External Advisory Panel, will have a yarn with our expert guest speakers which include:

  1. Dennis Batty, Executive Director, Indigenous Employment Partners Ltd,
  2. Celest Dargan, Aboriginal Workforce & Industry Participation Manager, LendLease,
  3. Jason Timor, Director, Towo Point Co, and
  4. Andrew Meehan, General Manager – Policy, Research & Government Affairs, Reconciliation Australia.
