Mind the age gap: creating inclusive workplaces for older and younger workers

November 24 @ 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm AEDT

Free - $85.00

Having a mix of older and younger workers can be a real advantage for businesses. Age-diverse teams bring a range of life experiences and perspectives, which can enhance problem-solving and innovation. It’s crucial that employers foster age-inclusive workplaces where skills and competence are valued over age or career stage.

At DCA’s next D&I Insights webinar, we’ll hear from Robert Fitzgerald AM (he/him), Age Discrimination Commissioner at the Australian Human Rights Commission, and Sarah McCann-Bartlett (she/her), CEO of the Australian HR Institute, as they discuss the 2025 report ‘Older and Younger Workers: What Do Employers Think?’ prepared by the Australian HR Institute, and Australian Human Rights Commission.

The report offers a snapshot of how older and younger workers are perceived, supported, and included in Australian workplaces, providing valuable insights into the employment climate for both groups.

Join DCA CEO, Catherine Hunter (she/her), and our guest speakers to explore evidence-based strategies and practical takeaways – across recruitment, lifelong learning and training, health and wellbeing, and workplace inclusion – designed to address bias at both ends of the age spectrum.

Guest speakers:

  • Robert Fitzgerald AM (he/him), Age Discrimination Commissioner at the Australian Human Rights Commission

  • Sarah McCann-Bartlett (she/her), CEO of the Australian HR Institute

  • Jessica Freer (she/her), Executive Manager of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Westpac Banking Corporation

Who should attend: Talent and Human Resources Specialists, HR Practitioners, People and Culture Leaders and managers/employees who are responsible for recruitment, team wellbeing or culture.
