New Global Inclusion and Diversity Alliance launched

""

DCA is excited to announce that in 2023, along with our partners the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI), Community Business (Hong Kong), and Diversity Works New Zealand, we will be launching the Global Inclusion & Diversity Alliance (GIDA).

GIDA is a community of practice for D&I organisations from around the world.

We act together to make workplaces across the world more equitable.

GIDA members are not-for-profit organisations, working across the spectrum of diversity dimensions, specifically focused on workplace inclusion.

We come together to partner and collaborate, to learn from each other, and to share thought leadership across our jurisdictions. We do this for the benefit to our respective membership networks and to make workplaces all over the world more equitable.

GIDA will be officially launched at the Whiria Ngā Kaha Workplace Inclusion Aotearoa 2023 international conference, to be held in Auckland, Aotearoa, New Zealand between 15-17 February 2023.

Lisa Annese (she/her), CEO of Diversity Council Australia, said:

“I am thrilled that DCA is part of this important initiative.

“There isn’t any single model for diversity and inclusion that can simply be ‘lift and dropped’ into different parts of the world. But there is something missing in the landscape – a global group of like-minded organisations who can come together to share ideas and learn from and with each other.

“I am excited to work with the other GIDA partners on opportunities for mutual learning and thought leadership, idea exchanges and other collaborations across our jurisdictions.”

Quotes from our partners:

Anne-Marie Pham (she/her), CEO, Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI), said:

“The Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion is excited to join the Global Inclusion & Diversity Alliance as a founding member. Learning about diversity, equity and inclusion in different parts of the world allows us to strengthen our cultural understanding and competence and prepares us for a better future. Canadian workplaces also benefit from accessing this global hub for mutual learning and sharing, and to support people and operations they have in various jurisdictions”.

Catherine Husted (she/her), Chair, Community Business, Catherine Husted said:

“At Community Business, we believe that working with others to move the needle on issues of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is essential if we are to achieve the kind of progress we need. Therefore, we are delighted to have this opportunity to collaborate with like-minded organisations, that come to this topic with different perspectives based on different lived experiences and cultural contexts, which help to broaden our understanding, shape our worldview and ultimately enhance the work that we do in creating a better environment in which everyone can flourish.

“Through partnerships such as this, we learn and grow as practitioners, to more effectively represent and better serve the communities we support. It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know and working with our GIDA partners, as we bring this collaborative initiative to life.

“We are thrilled to be a Founding Member of the Global Inclusion & Diversity Alliance.”

Maretha Smit (she/her), Chief Executive Diversity Works New Zealand, said:

“If the past three Covid years taught us anything it is that, across the globe, there is more that bind us than divide us.  Together, we have supported our workplaces through lockdowns, burnouts, talent shortages, employee activism and more.

“During this time, Diversity Works New Zealand have benefitted hugely from the perspectives and practices that informed the work of our colleagues across the world. And while diversity, equity and inclusion will always need to be locally grounded, we now have the opportunity to seize this moment of global transformation to accelerate positive change our workplaces through constructive collaboration beyond our borders.

“We are delighted to be a founding member of the Global Inclusion & Diversity Alliance.”
