Diversity Council Australia (DCA) is proud to announce that Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, will deliver the 2025 Anna McPhee Memorial Oration.
“As Governor-General and Patron of Diversity Council of Australia, I am honoured to have been asked to deliver the 2025 Oration – named for and honouring the late Anna McPhee, DCA former Chair and passionate advocate for diversity and equal opportunity,” the Governor-General said.
In her Oration, the Governor-General will share reflections from her first year in Office, including meeting, listening and learning from people in communities across Australia.
“When I was sworn in as your Governor-General, I promised to make the values of care, kindness and respect the focus of my term. Care for each other, care for those who care for others, care for our natural environment, our civics and institutions, and care for the way we discuss the issues of our time, without violence or judgment.
“The Australia I have seen in my first year as Governor-General has left me optimistic – our modern nation’s success is underpinned by our diversity and shepherded by our values of care and respect.”
CEO of DCA Catherine Hunter welcomed the Governor-General’s participation and reflected on DCA’s 40th year and focus for the remainder of 2025.
“As DCA marks its 40th year, we remain focused on dismantling systemic barriers to inclusion. Our upcoming new research on class inclusion, we will equip workplaces with new knowledge and practical to ensure everyone — regardless of background — has the opportunity to contribute and succeed,” Catherine said.
