At this Gender Equality Insights, we discussed why organisations need to rethink their approach to gender equality and leadership—based on evidence, not assumptions.
The keynote was presented by world-renowned gender equality expert Professor Michelle Ryan. Her work centres on understanding the psychological processes underlying workplace gender inequality, and designing and implementing innovative and evidence-based interventions to increase gender equality.
Her presentation unpacked what works and what to avoid, including:
- Representation ≠ equity – it’s more than numbers.
- Stop “fixing women” – fix systems instead.
- Be realistic – don’t overestimate progress.
DCA Board Director, Ian Goshko (he/him), then facilitated a fantastic panel discussion with:
- Professor Michelle Ryan (she/her), Professor of Social and Organisational Psychology, and the inaugural Director of the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership.
- Micaela Drieberg (she/her), CEO, Gender Equity Victoria
- Dr Janin Bredehoeft (she/her), CEO, Science in Australia Gender Equity
- Divya Pasupuleti (she/her), Director, Australian Gender Equality Council
