Case Study: BHP on building a gender-balanced employee workforce
June 15 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm AEST
FreeBHP is a world-leading resources company operating in the mining sector, one of the most traditionally male-dominated industries in the world. At this Case Study Conversation, we talk to BHP about their journey towards gender balance.
In 2016, BHP set an aspirational goal to achieve a gender-balanced employee workforce by the end of 2025. BHP define gender-balance as a minimum 40% women and 40% men, in line with the definitions used by organisations such as the International Labour Organization. In April 2025, BHP’s global employee workforce reached 40% women – a significant achievement, reflecting sustained commitment and collective effort across the business to create a more inclusive workplace – and industry.
DCA’s member Case Study Conversations focus on D&I “change that works”. Don’t miss this opportunity to join DCA CEO Catherine Hunter (she/her) in conversation with Michelle Kam (she/her), Vice President Talent and Performance at BHP, to discuss their journey and achievements.
