Closing the gap in commercial leadership roles

March 30 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm AEDT

Free - $85.00
Text: First Nations Insights

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are rarely in roles that involve managing profit and loss for an organisation, driving commercial advantage or shaping enterprise risk.

It’s time to raise the ceiling for Indigenous leaders. Corporate Australia needs to invest in Indigenous leadership that’s commercially grounded, culturally strong, and unapologetically strategic for Indigenous professionals to be equipped with the skills and networks to step into executive and board roles and to stop pigeonholing Indigenous people in Indigenous-facing roles.

Join DCA CEO, Catherine Hunter (she/her), and our panel of leaders who will share their comprehensive approach to creating commercial leadership opportunities for First Nations people.

Guest speakers include:

  • Brad Welsh (he/him), a proud member of the Muruwari tribe from north-western New South Wales and founder and CEO of Mawal. An organisation that is deeply committed to raising the ceiling for the next generation of Indigenous corporate leaders by building a future where Indigenous representation on ASX-listed C-Suites and boards of directors is no longer a rarity but a thriving reality.

  • Bronwyn Dodd (she/her), a proud Ngarrindjeri woman from South Australia, sits on the DCA Board of Directors, and is currently participating in the Mawal Leadership program. A program designed for Indigenous leaders seeking to grow their corporate careers.

  • The Hon Prof Kristina Keneally AO (she/her), CEO of Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation, is best known as the first woman to hold office as the 42nd Premier of NSW, and also as the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Senate up until 2022. She is a respected leader with a career spanning public service, sport, media, academia, and the not-for-profit sector. Throughout her career, she has shown a strong commitment to Indigenous affairs and has served as a valuable mentor to Brad.

Who should attend: Chief Diversity Officers, Chief People Officers and HR Directors, D&I and HR practitioners, Employee Resource Group members, D&I Champions, people leaders and any colleagues/team members in your organisation wanting to build their D&I knowledge.
