Strategic review of Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System

DCA response to the Strategic review of the Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System

DCA contributed to the government’s Strategic review of the Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System. The Incentive System aims to support apprentices and trainees to receive quality training and opportunities and encourage businesses to take on apprentices and trainees. One of the key issues this review is examining is whether the current system sufficiently encourages women, First Nations people, people with disability and people in regional, rural and remote communities into apprenticeships and traineeships.

The review also looks at how well the system aligns with priorities outlined in the 2023 Employment White Paper and the Australian Government’s broader economic objectives. DCA’s submission focussed on the need for the system to address the barriers and challenges faced by many from these underrepresented groups and referred to our research and member engagement experience to illustrate how some of these can be effectively addressed.
