Explore Membership

Diversity Council Australia has over 1,300 members from all sectors of the economy from small business and not-for-profit organisations to large corporates. Many are Australia’s business diversity and inclusion leaders and biggest employers.

Our members are estimated to employ nearly two million Australians, representing up to 20% of the workforce. Our founding members include some of Australia’s most trusted brands including ANZ, Coles, Westpac and more. We are not government funded – our income is generated from membership fees, sponsorships and services to business/employers.

To find out more view our FAQs below or email DCA’s Member Relations Team to find out more about how DCA membership can support your organisation’s diversity and inclusion goals.

How much does it cost to become a member of DCA?

Membership fees are calculated based upon your total workforce numbers (full-time, parttime, and casual) using a tier system – view our membership fee structure. Only registered charities listed under the Australian Charities and Not for Profit Commission are eligible for a 50% discount on fees. This tiered fee structure has proved the most consistent and fairest way of calculating fees for all our member organisations, and the most inclusive for your entire workforce.

What is included in the price of membership?

DCA’s membership includes complete workforce access to a vast body of diversity and inclusion resources and events for all your staff. Additional products and services such as Knowledge Programs, eLearning, the Inclusion at Work Index, and Speakers Bureau, cost extra but are heavily discounted for DCA members.

Who can access the membership resources?

All employees of a DCA membership organisation can obtain their own login to access the complete member offering. Our vast range of resources is developed from our own evidence-based Australian research and membership is therefore restricted to Australian and New Zealand organisations and employees.

Can we purchase membership only for certain areas of our business?

This is sometimes asked by organisations from sectors such as manufacturing and consumer goods, where a proportion of employees don’t directly access the membership via their own work PC. Whilst complete workforce access is a significant membership bonus, the main value of DCA membership is as an extensive resource for building an organisation’s internal diversity and inclusion capability, ultimately benefiting all employees, regardless of their job type. It’s also worth noting that membership can be accessed via a range of devices and our events are recorded to watch anytime and anywhere.

Why do you charge membership fees?

DCA is the not-for-profit peak body leading D&I in Australian workplaces, and we receive no direct government funding that supports our operations. This is generated from membership fees and sponsorships, enabling us to continually improve upon the value of membership for organisations by offering the latest in research, thought leadership, events, leading practice resources, and learning products.

Does DCA offer individual memberships?

DCA was originally established to assist workplaces, and our membership framework is designed with that in mind, so we are unable to offer individual memberships. However, our charitable purpose means that much of our website content is public, and we invite you to stay informed on Australian workplace diversity and inclusion matters by signing up for our communications.

We are also a membership organisation. Can we share your resources with our members?

While we accept membership from member organisations, our membership model does not permit sharing our IP externally with your membership base. All staff must strictly adhere to our Terms and Conditions which stipulate that member materials can only be utilised within your workforce.

What about volunteers, Board, and committee members and others not counted as ‘staff’?

Our membership Terms and Conditions only cover employees of member organisations, and our system works by matching employee email domains to an organisation’s membership to ensure our IP is protected. Therefore volunteers, board, and committee members cannot access member-only content. They are welcome to utilise our public website content and sign up for our communications. With 1200 current DCA members it may well be that their employer is already a DCA member. If not, they are invited to find out more about joining DCA here.

I am a consultant working in the D&I space and would like to join DCA

Unfortunately, due to conflicts of interest and protection of our intellectual property, DCA does not offer membership to businesses providing diversity and inclusion consulting.

I’m not a member but can I join an event?

Our events and other resources are a significant membership value offering and so are open only to DCA members. However, we do offer a limited number of events that are open to non-members for a fee, and these will be advertised in our e-communications. To access DCA events and resources through membership, email memberservices@dca.org.au and we will be in touch to discuss further.

What other ways can our organisation get involved with DCA’s work?

We encourage enquiries from interested research partners and event sponsors, and regularly source event panellists from our member community. To find out more about potential opportunities please email research@dca.org.au or events@dca.org.au.
