The Case for Inclusion@Work

What is the Case for Inclusion?

This special edition release, the Case for Inclusion@Work, is based on some of the findings of the yet to be published 2023-2024 Inclusion@Work Index (full report to come in February 2024). It explores key reasons why inclusion at work is beneficial for both people and business.

The Case for Inclusion@Work

Inclusion is good for our teams

Creating real inclusion at work is much more than a “feel good” exercise – it creates a better work environment that boosts employee wellbeing. Employees who form part of inclusive teams experience several benefits, especially in contrast to employees in non-inclusive teams. A similar trend also happens for inclusive managers and inclusive organisations.

"8.5 times more likely to work effectively together"

Inclusion is good for performance

The Inclusion@Work Index consistently shows a strong link between inclusion at work and team performance, and this year’s Case for Inclusion@Work is no different. For example, inclusive teams are:

"2.5 times more likely to be willing to work extra hard to help their team succeed"

DCA developed the first Inclusion@Work Index survey in 2017 to map the state of inclusion in the Australian workforce. Since then, DCA has repeated the survey biennially to track workplace inclusion over time. The 2023-2024 Inclusion@Work Index report is set to be released in February 2024, but you can explore some of the early findings in the Case for Inclusion@Work.
