Disability status data is a powerful tool for organisations to understand the mix of people in their workplace and importantly, the inclusion and exclusion experiences of employees with disability. This helps organisations make informed decisions about their Access and Inclusion Plan, monitor progress and drive positive change.
But many organisations struggle when it comes to capturing data relating to people with disability, and people with disability often feel unsafe sharing their disability status at work. As a result, organisations often lack the information they need to effectively unlock employment-related opportunities for people with disability.
At this event DCA launched a new report in partnership with the Australian Disability Network that explored:
- the critical role of capturing disability data in cultivating inclusive workplaces where all employees can thrive
- the experiences of people with disability and
- the essential strategies for fostering workplace environments where employees feel safe to disclose their disability without fear of repercussions.
Dr Jane O’Leary (she/her), DCA’s Research Director presented The Disability Data at Work report findings which highlighted the critical role that capturing disability data has in cultivating inclusive workplaces where all employees can thrive.
The event was moderated by DCA Board Member Manisha Amin (she/her) who led a panel discussion with our guest panel including:
- Emma Henningsen (she/her), Head of Consultancy and Acting Head of Member Services, Australian Disability Network
- Kenny Singh (he/him), Director, Modern Work & Cyber Security Patner go-to-market, Microsoft Asia
