The National Strategy to achieve Gender Equality is being developed by the Government’s Office for Women in consultation with people around Australia. The strategy will guide whole-of-community action to make Australia one of the best countries in the world for a gender-equal society.
At the event, the Minister outlined:
- How the strategy will engage with business and industry;
- Key reforms for workplaces (building on those already introduced via the Respect At Work, and Fair Work amendments in 2022);
- How the Government is prioritising gender equality in other areas;
- How the Government is ensuring the National Strategy takes an intersectional approach.
Following her presentation, the Minister joined DCA CEO Lisa Annese, to take audience questions.

Katy Gallagher has dedicated her working life to improving the lives of Australians, whether it was advocating for people with disability as a community worker, standing up for the rights of public servants as a Community and Public Sector Union Organiser or delivering for citizens of Canberra as the Chief Minister of the ACT.
