Breaking Dad: how to boost men sharing parental leave

August 14 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm AEST

Despite the benefits, many fathers are still not taking the extended parental leave available to them, fearing the impact this may have on their careers. As a result, their partners are forced to take a longer career break, affecting their financial stability and job security.

At this next Gender Equality Network, Frances Feenstra (she/her), Associate Director, People Measures and Founding Chair and member of the Research Committee of The 100% Project, will share the findings from their recent research initiative, “Breaking Dad”. This research looked at the role of psychological safety in the context of men taking extended parental leave and the positive impact this has on organisations, families and society.

Lisa Annese (she/her), CEO of DCA, will lead a discussion with our panel of practitioners and experts on the obstacles preventing men from accessing family-friendly work arrangements and spending more time at home, and examine how organisations can remove these barriers.

You will hear from:

  1. Frances Feenstra (she/her), Associate Director, People Measures and Founding Chair and member of the Research Committee of The 100% Project
  2. Michael Day (he/him), Partner, Finance Advisory, KPMG Australia
  3. Juliana Nkrumah AM (she/her), Manager, Gender Equality & Women’s Safety, Settlement Services International
  4. Ashley Scott (he/him), Executive Officer, Rainbow Families.
