Build connection and reduce workplace loneliness (Online)
November 17 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm AEDT

The second National Mental Health Monitor, released by Australians for Mental Health in April 2024, revealed a concerning rise in the number of Australians struggling with poor mental health and loneliness.
Workplaces, however, can play a vital role in addressing both, benefiting individuals, teams, and organisations alike.
DCA’s Inclusion@Work Index consistently shows that inclusive environments are linked to employees feeling that work has a positive impact on their mental health.
At DCA’s next thought leading event, our CEO Catherine Hunter will be joined by leading experts to explore loneliness at work – what it looks like, why it matters, and how we can build the knowledge and skills to develop and maintain meaningful social connections at work.
The event will be hosted by our Major Event Partner Gilbert + Tobin at their Barangaroo offices in Sydney.
After this event we invite attendees at Gilbert + Tobin to join speakers and the DCA team to network over refreshments and afternoon tea. The event will also be livestreamed for members outside of the Sydney CBD.
Our guest speakers will include:
-
Associate Professor Michelle Lim, CEO and Scientific Chair of Ending Loneliness Together, Australia’s peak organisation focused on addressing loneliness and social isolation in Australia
-
Chris Gambian, Executive Director for Australians for Mental Health who will talk about the trends in mental health and the role workplaces can play in reducing isolation and increasing connection
-
Shea X. Fan, Senior Lecturer in International Business, School of Management, RMIT University whose research expertise includes workplace loneliness and how organisations and managers can help employees thrive and achieve their potential in contemporary work environments
-
Anna Sparkes, Chief People Officer who leads the people, culture, and development initiatives for G+T
Who should attend: Leaders and employees who are either responsible for team wellbeing or culture, manage large teams, or have an interest in improving connection and reducing loneliness at work.
