Happy Inclusion at Work Week everyone!
We’re marking this monumental week by taking the opportunity to celebrate our 2024-2025 Inclusive Employers and all the important work they do to further our common goal of creating inclusive workplaces where everyone feels valued and respected.
This year over 60 organisations were recognised as Inclusive Employers across the nation, highlighting their commitment to creating diverse and inclusive workplaces. These organisations have not only demonstrated inclusion efforts that exceed national benchmarks but also a commitment to going beyond the surface level to uncover the inclusion experiences of their employees.
“For us it demonstrates that our Road to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion framework is driving us towards our commitment of creating a safe workplace that recognises and encourages our diverse skills and perspectives and a culture of respect and belonging.” – John Erceg, Managing Director, Main Roads Western Australia.
This process allows organisations to celebrate their commitment to inclusion, reflect on their achievements and identify ways to do even better.
“Achieving Inclusive Employer status in 2024-25 highlights the positive steps we’ve already taken and reinforces our ongoing commitment to building and nurturing a culture of inclusion, diversity and belonging at Container Exchange.” – Natalie Roach, CEO, Container Exchange (QLD) Limited.
How do organisations achieve Inclusive Employer status?
Each year, DCA gives organisations across Australia the opportunity to measure diversity and inclusion experiences within their workforce by taking part in the Inclusion at Work Index. Participating organisations survey their employees using an evidence-led, in-depth set of questions developed by DCA, in partnership with Diversity Atlas, to provide valuable D&I metrics and diversity demographics.
Following the Index survey, DCA assesses participating organisations and announces the list of Inclusive Employers who exceeded the National Index Benchmark in at least five out of the six following areas: awareness, engagement, inclusive organisational climate, inclusive leadership, inclusive team, and exclusion.
“The Inclusive Employer Index Survey provides us with clarity around where we are doing well, and where we can continue to grow as we strive to be the best place to work and provide leadership across the WA public sector,” – Jodi Cant, Director General, Department of Finance, Government of Western Australia.
Those who make the list can showcase their commitment to D&I by displaying the “Proud to be an Inclusive Employer” branding in their own communications. DCA also celebrates this achievement through a range of media promotions.
“This achievement reflects the heart of our culture—one that values and celebrates diversity in all its forms. Recently, over 600 of our team members shared their experiences through the DCA survey, and the results highlight just how diverse we truly are.
“Our team represents 64 cultural backgrounds, speaks 60 different languages, and comes from 46 countries. This diversity is not only something we celebrate, but it strengthens us, enabling us to provide care that’s culturally sensitive and services that are respectful and inclusive.” – Chris Stewart, CEO, Helping Hand.

Celebrating Inclusion at Work Week 2024
Now in its third year, DCA’s Inclusion at Work Week is an annual week-long celebration of all the great work Australian organisations do to foster a more inclusive and diverse workforce. That’s why we choose this week to announce our Inclusive Employers – these organisations have shown their commitment to this shared goal.
Inclusion at Work Week is a digital campaign that provides a platform to connect and share why D&I is important to you, as well as showcasing all the great work your organisation does in this space using the hashtag #InclusionAtWorkWeek.
You can get involved in the social media campaign by sharing why D&I is important to you and your organisation. Last year, over 500 organisations across Australia took the opportunity to highlight what inclusion means to them and shared inspiring stories from their D&I journey.
This year DCA has curated a special program of exciting announcements, resources, educational opportunities and more. Find out what participants can expect this year, and how to get involved during #InclusionAtWorkWeek 2024.
