Following SSI‘s active support for marriage equality in the 2017 vote, it became clear that work was required within the organisation to create a more inclusive workplace for people who identify with a diverse sexuality and/or gender – and to build awareness across the organisation about Gender and Sexual Diversity (GSD).
Furthermore, SSI wanted to start respectful conversations and spread awareness about GSD in wider communities where the conversation was minimal or not yet established.
Hear DCA’s CEO, Lisa Annese, in conversation with Janet Irvine, Convenor of SSIs Gender and Sexual Diversity Working Group and Anita Kucic, Manager of Diversity and Inclusion and Wellbeing at SSI.
We learnt:
- Why and how SSI designed the change,
- How they adopted a nuanced, intersectional approach,
- How the change was communicated and then embedded in the organisation,
- What was achieved and what else is planned.
